Sault Ste. Marie to Host 2012 CARHA Hockey World Cup
Ottawa, ON – It is with great pleasure that CARHA Hockey announces Sault Ste. Marie (ON) as the Host City of the 2012 CARHA Hockey World Cup International Hockey Tournament.
Organized every four years in a selected Canadian city, the CARHA Hockey World Cup will host approximately 120 teams from 11 different countries and is anticipated to generate up to $15 million in economic activity for the local economy.
In previous editions, this international hockey event has been hosted in: Toronto, ON (1996), Vancouver, BC (2000), Ottawa, ON (2004), Québec City, QC (2008) and now in its fifth edition, will continue to deliver a complete hockey experience for all participants.

Executive Director of Tourism Sault Ste. Marie, Ian McMillan says, “We are very pleased to host this prestigious tournament as the kick-off event to Sault Ste. Marie’s 100th Anniversary celebrations. Participants from around the world will fill virtually every hotel room in our City for an entire week, and will provide an economic impact of the size and scope that has not been seen before in our community.
