Stonewall-Rockwood Climate + Sport Initiative Event
3-on-3 Tournament Registration Now Live!
Stonewall, Manitoba | February 18-20, 2022

Fighting climate change has never been this much fun!

The Climate and Sport Initiative uses sport as a platform to educate, engage and empower Canadians to protect our planet for future generations. Stonewall, Manitoba, will transform Kinsmen Lake at Quarry Park into an outdoor hockey rink for the first time ever. The Climate and Sport Initiative is bringing star athletes, sports enthusiasts, and sustainability experts together to take on the greatest opponent of our time. Play hockey, win prizes, and meet top players, while protecting your community for future generations. Let’s stick it to climate change!

The 3-on-3 tournament is one part of this great weekend celebration. Details for the event include:

  • Teams will consist of 6 skaters, no goalie
  • General Divisions and Minor Hockey Divisions available
  • Team entry fee: $150
  • Registration closes December 17, 2021

This Save Pond Hockey event is a collaboration between the Town of Stonewall, R.M. of Rockwood, Randy Frykas (Outdoor Hockey Club), Stonewall Minor Hockey, Stonewall Jets Hockey Club, R.E.A.C.T., CARHA Hockey, and Community Living Interlake.

The Climate and Sport Initiative shines a spotlight on the direct effect of climate change on the sports we love - and on our nation - and empowers us all to get in the game of preserving both. The multi-year initiative will include a series of live and virtual public events and experiences, training and support to help athletes become climate ambassadors, and youth mentorship and engagement. It is led by GLOBE Series, The Delphi Group, and Leading Change Canada, funded in part by the Government of Canada, in partnership with the Clean Foundation, and championed by Hayley Wickenheiser.
