We know the importance of representation for females in sports, and that's why programs like the Advanced Placement Program with the Nepean Girls Hockey Association are essential to help girls realize their dreams! We had the chance to speak with Rebecca Hollingsworth and learn more about what opportunities they are giving athletes.
"Our program supports our female athletes by not only helping them with their next steps in hockey but also helps them be the best athletes they can be by bringing in guest speakers who have pursued higher-level hockey, academic advisors, and nutritionists that focus on the specific needs of female hockey players, as well as the recruitment of female coaches to lead these young girls."
Hockey is a game you can enjoy for life, whether pursuing a professional career, playing recreational hockey at any age, taking on a leadership role like coaching or refereeing, or supporting as a fan. The sky is the limit, and we've come a long way with more programs specifically tailored to females.
