Release | CARHA Hockey Expands Team with Key New Hires

OTTAWA, ON – Over the past three months, CARHA Hockey has made three new hires to enhance its team. The new additions are Carla Anderson as Director of Operations, Sean Marcellus as Lead, Communications & Marketing, and Ben Godwin as Coordinator, Membership & Registration.

CARLA ANDERSON | DIRECTOR OF OPERATIONS

Carla Anderson, who grew up in Châteauguay, Quebec, and moved to Ottawa after graduating from Concordia University, brings over 35 years of sports experience to CARHA. She has previously held positions as the Director of Games for the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) and as the Executive Director of both Taekwondo Canada and Pickleball Canada. During her time at the COC, Carla held multiple positions, ultimately becoming the Director of Games, where she led the Canadian team to the Olympic, Olympic Winter, and Pan American Games, working with National Sport Organizations such as Hockey Canada and Skate Canada.

At CARHA Hockey, Carla will oversee operations, administration, HR, partnerships, and stakeholder relationships, while managing membership, tournaments, and finances. She aims to enhance the organization’s effectiveness and efficiency.

SEAN MARCELLUS | LEAD, COMMUNICATIONS & MARKETING

Sean Marcellus, an Arnprior, ON native, brings nearly a decade of experience in hockey operations, communications, and marketing. He has excelled in roles such as Commissioner and Director of Operations for the Central Canada Hockey League (CCHL) (2015-2024) and President and Director of Hockey Operations for Hockey Eastern Ontario U18AAA (2015-2023). In these positions, Sean oversaw all aspects of hockey operations and managed both leagues’ digital presence, creating content for their websites and social media channels.

Currently, Sean serves part-time as the Director of Hockey Operations for the Eastern Ontario Junior Hockey League (EOJHL), where he focuses on enhancing the visibility of players and teams across Eastern Ontario through digital platforms. With a diploma in Sports Administration from Durham College, Sean is equipped with strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and digital marketing skills.

At CARHA Hockey, Sean will help enhance communications and marketing efforts, driving growth and engagement among the community and stakeholders.

BEN GODWIN | COORDINATOR, MEMBERSHIP & REGISTRATION

Ben Godwin, a 24-year-old Ottawa native, has a lifelong passion for hockey. He played minor hockey throughout his youth and continues to play adult recreational hockey. Additionally, he referees at the Junior A, B, and C levels and volunteers with the Ottawa 67’s. Ben has worked in sports-related roles at the Ottawa Hunt Club and OSEG. He recently completed an advanced diploma in Health and Fitness Promotion from Algonquin College.

Outside of his professional endeavors, Ben enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, playing golf, and relaxing at the cottage. He is dedicated to promoting health and fitness within the community and aspires to make a positive impact through his knowledge and experiences.
